Taken today at Brean beach....one tired soggy dog later and I think I need some help with this one as the top of the photo looks 'blown' Sad
Its not the sky but the wet sand where the tide had gone out. Does this spoil the photo and what do you think of it overall? Any advice and C&C on how I can improve with these types of shots appreciated. I know I have not used the best lens for this but it is the fastest that I have at the moment, the kit lens would not have caught anything but a haze of blur!! any advice on lenses too please!

Quite a good capture and with a bit of work could be enhanced. I've uploaded a modification for you.

I like it! Well you know I am no expert, but yes I would just bring out the amber in the eyes a little more to define them. Did this with the Lexi shots to define them again the black fur.

Hi Karen. It's a good action shot for sure.

I see the MOD's already done on it.

Nice work.

John.

I am very impressed by the mods by carabosse and photogene. It shows the original image was better than first meets the eye! Moving dogs are very difficult to get sharp in my experience, so I think your picture deserves a lot of credit.

I really like the Mod with the dog running out of the frame, and the tongue hanging out in the image is quite funny looking...

This is a really lovely shot. The main subject is sharp, crisp and clear and even though you have caught the action shot still, you are still able to get the sense of movement in the image and the energy that the dog has. I do think that you comment about the sky is valid. I dont think that it detracts from the image but by changing the sky you can enhance the photograph. You could do this by taking a shot of a very dramatic sky. Then in photoshop you can open both the images and drag the sky over the top. You can then resize the sky to fit the skyline in the image of the dog. Then, to make the sky look natural you can use the effect drop down menu to select the correct effect that achieves this.
