A simple pic of a kaffir lily, homegrown and just starting to flourish, taken using the Canon 100mm macro lens and boy what a difference it makes to 'close ups'... this was taken using F2.8 (manual focus) and its a huge learning curve as I experiment so any comments would be appreciated.

A thank you to Allie (possum) for some sound advice and hundreds of 'reviews' that pointed me in the right direction with 'image samples' as well as 'words'.

Sorry haven't been around for a while I've had problems with my shoulder/neck muscle so photography has taken a back seat while i attempt yoga to flex n stretch, its still painful but i'm going to try and catch up on here to take my mind off pain...

Thanks again for viewing and hope you all had a good weekend and made the most of the glimmer of sun.....

Karen Smile

This is very beautiful Karen.
I can't help you as I have a different camera & use different lenses, & I only just understand my equipment..hahaha.
I know how you are feeling with your neck...I have a couple of trapped nerves in mine & am of for some Physio tomorrow to see if they can release them.
Take care,
Hilary

Great crop and use of dof.
The colour of the b,g and petals are so complimentary.

When I use the 105mm macro-- I need to decide before I shoot, what I want in the bg-- f2.8 is a great choice to diffusing the bg--

I also need to remember that only one plane will be in focus-- -- this worked well for you in this image!
super, Jennnnn
