According to a vet that I used to employ, hedgehogs are one of, if not the, most flea infested creatures in existence.
I took an injured hedgehog to him once and the first thing that he did was to spray it with 'Nuvan Top,' a particularly effective flea killer, really intended for dogs and cats.
Dozens of fleas quite literally leapt off of this poor creature and died on the vet's table.
