Dawn on Derwent Water, finally got the boat into a position that I liked, had to rescue that oar later though as it fell in the water.... got my sister to retrieve it)
Oh I feel an award coming on for this one! One of the most enchanting shots of Derwentwater I have seen. The comp is superb and the reflections and underwater detail are sublime.
Quote: got my sister to retrieve it
Sisters can be very good assistants .. mine brought a flask of coffee too last week when we were out at stooopid o'clock
This is a gem, Ange!
I agree Jeanie and she didn't argue much either I helped her into the boat to go and get the oar and then pushed the boat out even further so she couldn't get back - she wasn't very happy)) But it made us all laugh
Absolutely gorgeous mood to this, broody, serene. Perfect composition, everything where it should be, and the underwater detail in the fg, is the finishing touch. Shortlisted!
This is a classic Ange just so good
Large is a bit special Ange!!!!
HDR or TM?
Cheers for your comments guys, means alot
What a lovely shot, this is one of the best pics I have seen here on ephotozine. well done.

Wonderful image Ange
like it Ange
Oh, wow, this is very special. The colours, the underwater detail and the reflections, not to mention the composition etc etc. It's a beauty.
Many thanks to you all and thanks to to Leigh and Oll1e for your awards, I have never had those before
Exceptionally striking image, Ange, worthy indeed of its awards (including those to come!). Just as a matter of interest, what does TM mean?
Oh Ange... you are braver than me! I don't think I could go that far............ without a good head start heheh!
tone mapping, Ian.
Absolutly brilliant shot,
Mmm, very nice indeed
Someone described this earlier on as "enchanting" and I'd have to agree - a beautiful capture Ange!
thanks for your comments guys
Just checked back in here, looking at the comment about hdr and tone mapping. Do you mind me asking, how can you do tone mapping if it's not hdr? (I may be very dense here)
It's quite easy Leigh. I shoot in jpg fine, so in PS I change the jpeg into a 16 bit tiff file and open it in Photomatix. In the menu bar there is an option by which you can tone map using the sliders etc to get the image as you want it before saving it back to jpeg.
Hope that helps
This is a stunner!!!!
Lovely still water with superb detail in it. Love the composition and the colours are wonderful. Well deserving of both awards
Now that is a beauty....
Thanks Ange, I never knew that. I'll have a play...
Now this is better. Much better!Your following dont know a good photograph from half decent one,if they give you 61 yesterday and only 55 today.Love the detail through out the picture, with all the stones under the water. The sky is well detailed and the whole is held in well by the side interest and mountains in the forground.
Especially nice - good low light scape and I like how the clarity of the water shows the detail under the boat.
