Sculpture at Hoover Dam

A fantastic sculpture, commemorating the brave men in the construction of the magnificient Hoover Dam, USA on the border between Nevada and Arizona.

It was constructed between 1931 and 1936 during the Great Depression, and was dedicated on September 30, 1935, by President Franklin Roosevelt. Its construction was the result of a massive effort involving thousands of workers, and cost over one hundred lives.

Moira, he is NOT REAL. Its a sculpture, including the ropes are part of the sculpture. Beautiful work. High-scalers working in extreme dangerous conditions back in the 1930s. Over 100 men died during the construction.

Great respect for these men building the Hoover Dam.
One of the most amazing concave concrete walls I have ever seen. Extreme sharp V to capture the dam water and open the sluice to power the turbines. I just googled the dimensions height: 726ft, top parapet 1236ft wide, base 660ft wide, volume of material for construction of the wall: 4,400,000 cu-yards. Awesome.

Las Vegas, turn on your hot lights Smile

Amazing sculpture Leman, great writeup. You have a perfect angle to show details of this beautiful artwork; the mono makes it come alive. Stunning shot with the towers above and the electric lines running alongside.
I should take a trip soon.
