After a couple of dud uploads I'll try a criteque this time and see what I'm doing wrong with these landscapes. This one was taken at f16 / 30seconds @ 14mm, ISO 100. Raw adjustments in DPP, dodged and burned the rocks and sky (trying to find any detail further up - the expected sunset didn't really happen and was obscured by low dense cloud).

Considered cropping the image to make the larger rock less central, but felt the image lost too much with open sea to the right.

A lovely shot and the long expo has given the sea a really nice effect.
Only thing I would say is that the sky looks a little washed out to the left, maybe adding a ND Gradient for the sky might do the job.

Generally a pleasant image, but it does lack that sunset you were expecting leaving a rather bland sky. I'm not sure about these long exposure/blurred water images - seem to be getting rather over done these days.

Not that it doesn't work here.

Thanks all.

Harsharn, I nearly took it into Lightroom to add a grad there, but it was getting late and I think I' lost most of the information in that blank section on the left anyway.

I know what you mean Paul, I turned to a technique I'd not really tried (recedeing waves) before when I didn't get the sunset I was hoping for. The timing was more difficult as I'd picked up the cable release for the 40d instead of the 400d I was using and had to resort to the timer.

Thanks Eviscera, I'll take a look.
