Nothing like living on the edge, breaking the composition rules with a 50/50 split, adding to that mono and square, life on the edge is almost complete
A view across Loch Scavaig from Elgol to the partly cloud covered Black Cuillin mountains.
Thanks as alway for looking
Rules are meant to be broken!!!!! stunning...dramatic...perfect!!! love it
So atmospheric....a delight to view..
A powerful image Les and the square format is perfect.
stunning shot. christine
Like your choice of shutter speed. There's only one rule that matters, does it work? Yes! Regards, Si.
Works wonderfully well though! Great image.
Nice mono composition and capture.
Bags of drama and mood in both sky and land so the 50:50 split works beautifully. Mono simplifies the comp further and therefore adds impact. Being flippant, the only bit on the edge for me is descriptive; the range is known as the 'Cuillin' with no pleural... you can imagine how many times I get punched for my grammatical pedantry!
A great shot and a very good mono conversion. Love the square format.
Thanks everyone for your comments and likes, appreciate it.
Alan, thank you also I stand corrected, I have amended the wording.
Drama in abundance ...
It would have been a shame not to break the rules with a 50/50 split - we would have lost the drama of the diagonals in the clouds
An excellent mono.
Rules are to be broken
and this has proved the point!!
a wonderful mono and the square format just finishes it off perfectly
Wonderful mono image here Les.
Super shot Les.
Thanks everyone and specially Ken (Franken) for once again giving me his User Award for one of my images, it really is appreciated Ken.
i don't like misty water but this one is gorgeous. wonderfully mist-erious
Rules are like the outriders on a kid's bike- you need them at first for a while. They're for people who don't really know yet how to take photographs. Or don't have the confidence. ( Or in some cases, the imagination? )
This is a lovely image.

And how many times for your spelling? ("pleural")
Came to this a bit late Les, but no less enthusiastic about this super image.
