Saya so much about the lot of the locals, yet the children, despite their relative deprivation, look happy with their lot and enjoying play.
The pigeons have decided to have nothing to do with them though, turning their backs.

Ah grubby urchins feeding urban pigeons, bet it felt just like home! Wink Brilliant character image, they look absorbed in their game and unaware of the photographer. Looking closely at them does make one dwell on the gap between the affluent West and countries like Nepal. I was always struck by how happy and welcoming the Nepalese were when I visited in 1997 and being a student, I wasn't dressed a lot better either!

almiles is right - the gap between the West and lesser developed countries is widening. It's sobering to see how grubby these children are - but are they any less happy than their western counterparts who have 'everything' - and still want more? Excellent and thought-provoking image Dave.

Like me 65 years ago Dave with holes in shoes and clothes living in a mining community, but we were happy and it was safe to play outside, also we were well fed, this image revokes images of those times, but now on the news hundreds have to turn to food stores for free food! What is the UK heading for, this is fantastic photo journalism and hope it gets the attention it deserves.
