American Bald Eagle (Haliaeetus leucocephalus) coming into land with Lac de Serre Ponçon in the background (French Alps).
This bird formed part of an impressive falconry display at La Montagne aux Marmottes (which included golden eagles, vultures, a kestrel, an eagle owl and stalks!) set against the back drop of the turquoise lake. Highly recommended if you are ever in the area.
Its a shame the the jesses weren't hidden but a like the clutched claws and the expression of the bird looking over its shoulder, whilst the stalling air currents cause the wing feather to lift.
