Thanks for all the votes and comments on my recent images.

This image is of a male Escher's Blue (Polyommatus escheri), photographed in the alpine meadows at the Col de Fillys in the Alpes de Haute Provence.

These butterflies are absolutely stunning with the male a fantastic blue compared to the iridescent brown female uploaded last week.

Not such a clean background this time but I feel it gives a good indication of the habitat they live in .

Lovely image which contrasts so well with the background.

Sorry all but just noticed an error in the key-wording! It seems to have been truncated as it should read Polyommatus escheri. Should probably also mention that the Col de Fillys is at an altitude of just over 1350m.

Lovely shot - I like the background, I think it adds to the shot.

Hi Annette

I was not sure but took my identification from the underside markings compared with the images on the following website.

Adonis - http://www.butterfliesoffrance.com/html/Lysandra%20bellargus.htm

Escher's - http://www.butterfliesoffrance.com/html/Polyommatus%20escheri.htm

Let me know what you recon?

Either way you have some great images on your portfolio and I think your cats must be related to ours from the way they behave!
