Female Escher's Blue (Polyommatus esch, photographed at the Col de Fillys in the Alpes de Haute Provence.

These butterflies were absolutely stunning but proved very difficult to capture the beautifully iridescent wings.

Sorry all but just noticed an error in the key-wording! It seems to have been truncated as it should read Polyommatus escheri. Should probably also mention that the Col de Fillys is at an altitude of just over 1350m
