Venice again, this time 12 mages of the masks that so characterise the city. They are everywhere and they range from plain white ones that you are supposed to paint for yourself, to the more fanciful and elaborate ones pictured here, many of which are intended as wall decorations, but they all have eye holes and can be worn (and probably are) by the more intrepid attendees at some of the balls.
Many of these were taken through glass shop windows, others at street stalls. Fortunately Venetian shopkeepers are meticulous about keeping their shops, shop windows and shop frontages immaculately clean.
Anyway, thank you for looking and I hope you enjoy at least some of them.

You've had fun with these, you've created your own very classy shop windows - a lot in what my granny used to refer to as 'old gold'. Very appropriate, and very beautiful.
Moira
Amazing set of images Lynne, each and every one unique and beautiful. A joy to behold.
Tony

A wonderful collection - I particularly like v7, v8 and v9

They are a bit more elaborate than the mask **** Turpin wore Lynne,
although I suspect there would be a bit of highway robbery going on with their prices !!
Don't think the Lone Ranger would have wore one either.
I would have definately saw Tonto in a different light had he called the Lone Ranger Hot Lips instead of Kemo Sabe !!
A well coloured set.
Mick.
Amazing and wonderful works of art. And very well captured.

Yes, it is "WOW.."
Fantastic set! You did an excellent job..through the glass. I couldn't do it, and the shop keepers don't like people to take photos in the shop after digital, unless you buy one
.
I always like them, they are just so beautiful.. This is a superb set, love them all... V1 with the person behind is very interesting...
Well spotted Alf85, V7 was the hardest work of all as I had to remove a very messy background and had to lasso around all those delicate feathers. Aaaaargh! I should get a life!
A brilliant set, Lynne, each one beautifully captured
I took a few myself through the shop windows, and though they've all processed very nicely, they nearly all look busy and cluttered; I think I ought to have used a shallower depth of field to isolate them more from their backgrounds. You've presented each of these differently and they are all super, and it would very difficult - or unfair - to select a fave, so it's 1/12 of a vote for each! ![]()

What an absolutely superb set of images here Lynne and how amazing these masks are! A difficult choice indeed, but I am going for V1 as the only human face in the background of this one as opposed to so many fantasy faces intrigues me!

A great set of masks..would love to try them all...my little 1/2 mask I purchased in Venice will have to do.... Love the framing, very complimentary
What an absolutely wonderful set of shots you have amassed here Lynne. Very difficult to choose a favourite as they are all quite unique, but I do find myself going back to V4 - quite unusual looking shot. All beautifully presented. Mine all had light reflections and background clutter. Talking of which, I do like that face in the bg in V1. Moira
12 quality shots Lynne.
You have really captured the detail in the masks and the presentation is spot on.
Very enjoyable viewing. ![]()

superb set, love the colours in v8,well done indeed.ray
What a wonderful selection you have here.
V1 gets my vote . I love the face at the back
Thanks Barabara, Moira, Gingerdelight & Xwang, you have confirmed my decision to leave the face in the background in Version 1. It wasn't laziness, honest, but a conscious decision to give context. Besides, I couldn't have placed him better if this had been a posed shot.
The hours we spend at our pc's sometimes pays off, this is one them, well worth the effort in a word, superb.
John
An impressive collection Lynne, these are fabulous. I couldn't possibly pick a favourite out of them, the colours and designs are wonderful and a lot of hard work must have gone into making them
