Those who have read some of my comments will know that I have a great love of the ordinary, the mundane, the unromantic, things that show real life, not the romanticised stuff. So here we have just a small selection of shots showing the ordinary, workaday side of Venice. Beware - there are many more to come.
V1 is a handle on a shutter which with its shadow creates a heart shape that symbolises my love of Venice, so I thought it was a suitable image to start with. The rest speak for themselves and include my particular passion, the Venetian version of the garbage wagon!
Anyway, thank you for looking and I hope you enjoy some of them.

Just a romantic at heart, like the rest of us.

Wonderful Lynne ~ the whole selection. Life as it is. Superb. We need folk like you. Thanks.
The presentation is 1st Class too.
This is where Iam also...
what an interesting set!
V1 really is such a romantic lead in to the others

It's life, Lynne, but not as we know it!
Like the title as well. Very good reportage.
Dave
Certainly not what photos you normally get from Venice Lynne, well done. V1 for me also.
Regards
Trev.
Different but no less wonderful - I love V1!
Carol
I had to keep the watering can in Lillian, to add to the 'vernacular' theme, and yes, V's 11 & 12 are Burano.
A fine set Lynne, lovely to see images of such places.

I agree with you entirely about the mundane, Lynne, just as I prefer buttercups to roses.
Outstanding tones in V1 which manages to be unromantically romantic!
Regards
Bill
All good, because they are about real life, but V1 is exceptional - a beautiful exterior a tantalising glimpse inside.

Yes Lynne,as much as I like all these pretty Venetian masks and that Doggy Palace, and that Sighing Bridge, and these pointy boaty things on the canals,I do prefer to see a bit of grot and rust no matter where about in the world it is. I share your love of cranes too but a waste of time going all the way to Venice to see them as they have one exactly the same as your one down at Leith docks. I can also see your strange construction on the roofs done at Leith that you have in V12.They are machine gun posts to protect the satellite dishes being stolen since Sky put their prices up by 35 %.What a splendid idea that garbage wagon is too.It would be an ideal place to put these young neds in it that are stealing the satellite dishes. Now I must dash as that is the footie highlights started on the telly. But I may be back if someone has stolen my satellite dish !!
Mick.
Oh yes, I prefer this to the carnival any time ![]()
no 3 for me, that is the sight that would have fascinated me. I have to dig out some portuguese harbour scenes.

Oh man...TOTALLY! Sorry, Lynne...you've been outed ![]()
V1 is exquisite. It would get my UA in a heartbeat (pun not intended, seriously) if it were available.
This is a super set and I love V10 'cos I love cranes too ![]()
Andrew
Beautiful set with excellent light and colour.. and " border control".![]()
.V1 is great work, well spotted image, the colour and light are superb, I especially love the shadow that forms a heart with the handle...Who says that you are "unromantic".. romance is from the heart! I see it's there..![]()
A lovely interesting set Lynne,I do like V1 with that gorgeous heart shadow, well done..Lin
You certainly go for the weird and wonderful Lynne. I took some shots that I regarded as mundane and deleted them. Now looking at yours, see how intersting they can be. Giving an overview of 'normal' life in Venice. Superb set of shots and all so beautifully presented. Moira
Never underestimate the potential of the ordinary. We often fail to acknowledge its importance, and beauty for that matter.
Super set of images Lynne V1 would have got my award to but it wont let as I'm a couple of days late viewing. Don't EPZ realize people work and don't always have the time to view same day or next anyway enough grumps . Brilliant images brought back good memories from febuary and before ,off to Lake Garda for a week in august so might pop over to venice for the day if time permits ,keep the images coming Lynne .
Rob
Certainly not your bog standard shots of Venice here, Lynne!
A great and varied set of Venetian life here...but love V1 ![]()

We don't often see workaday pictures of Venice, your images make a refreshing change.
Val
Outstanding set with V1 leading the way, I do like the way you add insight into the shot.
John
I like the alternative views of Venice that are not seen in the tourist brochures. This is a really interesting, diverse and eclectic set and I've thoroughtly enjoyed viewing them all as they have given me a taste of Venice that is not usually seen and for that I commend you
