Those who have read some of my comments will know that I have a great love of the ordinary, the mundane, the unromantic, things that show real life, not the romanticised stuff. So here we have just a small selection of shots showing the ordinary, workaday side of Venice. Beware - there are many more to come.

V1 is a handle on a shutter which with its shadow creates a heart shape that symbolises my love of Venice, so I thought it was a suitable image to start with. The rest speak for themselves and include my particular passion, the Venetian version of the garbage wagon!

Anyway, thank you for looking and I hope you enjoy some of them.

I had to keep the watering can in Lillian, to add to the 'vernacular' theme, and yes, V's 11 & 12 are Burano.

I agree with you entirely about the mundane, Lynne, just as I prefer buttercups to roses.
Outstanding tones in V1 which manages to be unromantically romantic!

Yes Lynne,as much as I like all these pretty Venetian masks and that Doggy Palace, and that Sighing Bridge, and these pointy boaty things on the canals,I do prefer to see a bit of grot and rust no matter where about in the world it is. I share your love of cranes too but a waste of time going all the way to Venice to see them as they have one exactly the same as your one down at Leith docks. I can also see your strange construction on the roofs done at Leith that you have in V12.They are machine gun posts to protect the satellite dishes being stolen since Sky put their prices up by 35 %.What a splendid idea that garbage wagon is too.It would be an ideal place to put these young neds in it that are stealing the satellite dishes. Now I must dash as that is the footie highlights started on the telly. But I may be back if someone has stolen my satellite dish !!
Mick.

You certainly go for the weird and wonderful Lynne. I took some shots that I regarded as mundane and deleted them. Now looking at yours, see how intersting they can be. Giving an overview of 'normal' life in Venice. Superb set of shots and all so beautifully presented. Moira

Super set of images Lynne V1 would have got my award to but it wont let as I'm a couple of days late viewing. Don't EPZ realize people work and don't always have the time to view same day or next anyway enough grumps . Brilliant images brought back good memories from febuary and before ,off to Lake Garda for a week in august so might pop over to venice for the day if time permits ,keep the images coming Lynne .

I like the alternative views of Venice that are not seen in the tourist brochures. This is a really interesting, diverse and eclectic set and I've thoroughtly enjoyed viewing them all as they have given me a taste of Venice that is not usually seen and for that I commend you
