Quite a good idea. Just watch the cut out of the watch it's quite jagged around the edge. How are you doing it? I find the pen tool better than the standard selection methods, then right click feather 1px and convert to selection. Then activate it as a layer mask. Then very slowly go around the selection at 400% magnification - using black / white brush to correct any minor efforts.
Then create a clipping mask and use a low opacity black brush and paint round the edge to give a convincing transition. ( may have to use darken/multiply blend mode).
I cut around the watch with a path and also used a layer mask to isolate it, slightly soften and even out the edge. This was a rough test - the finished version is quite different.
