Thought id brighten up with a flower today, a bunch of roses, i know some of you dont like the big border, but i do!
Beautiful cluster, nice detail and color, well done! Spot on! Click!!!
Very nice colour and crop
That lovely colour works well with the black border Maddie.
superb well done love the lighting. sandyb
good one Maddie, i like the matching frame as well!
nice one Maddie. The border suits it
beautiful colours and presentation. very nice shot
Good colour, nice collection that fill the frame well.
Looks fabulous Maddie - gorgeous colour blooms.
lovely bright colours
great colours and presentation.
Lovely colour, lighting and composition, well presented!
Hi maddie, wonderful picture! great colours and love the simple but very effective frame! wonderful
I can see why you chose the subject - the colour is unusual and there is lots of interesting line and form - but I think the crop is perhaps too severe.
The proportions of the border to the picture give it the unfortunate appearance of a table mat. That really was my first reaction when I saw it, I'm afraid - we must have had some like this when I was little!
There is nothing wrong with a frame per se, but sometimes they become more important than the image if you let them and I think maybe this is the problem that I see here.
I would be interested to see some different treatments of the same subject.
Hope that is of interest.
Hi Maddie , that is beautiful and the frame enhances the presentation .Smashing
Really beautiful Maddie.
Love it, border an' all!
Nice tones and colours. Lovely shot.
Beautiful picture. Just lovely.
I like the photo Maddie, I honestly think the frame is slightly too broad, (IMO). However there does seem to be a lot of people who like it and haven't metioned it, so it could just be me
Hiya Maddie! Looks like an oppurtunity missed. I agree with Mo on the border. Nevertheless, the roses are fantastic in terms of colour and the composition is excellent. Cropped well. Just that frame...
Beautiful work..Love the colours and framing..
nice shot well done
You'll have to start a new site called 'eBORDERzine' Maddie!
thank you everyone, just looked three out of twenty nine dont like the border len so i put that down to personal preference!
Lovely shot, great colours and detail of the petals. Think I like it with the border but prob also without, either way - love the composition of the roses!
Not a fair analysis Maddie!
How many other people commenting on your shots without the big border say they wish it had one?
Excellent shot. Regarding the border, as long as you are happy with it there should be no problem. Personally I think that it is a bit too big but that is just my taste. With a big or small border it is still a fantastic shot. Well done!
Maddie & Len - I think perhaps the word border is the wrong word. Pehaps we should be calling it a FRAME. I like this picture very much but, being fairly close cropped, shot I don't think it would work without some kind of edge. At the end of the day I would hang this on my wall, but not without a frame, so I think Maddie is right to frame the shot, but it is dowm to personal taste. As for eBorderzine, this comment could apply to a huge number of people on this site, some of whom frame every shot. I am guilty of framing some of my shots if I think they need it.
So at the end of the day we are not here to argue over whether we should use borders or not, if we don't like a shot because of its frame/border fair enough, but we all have thr right to present our pictures as we see fit without having to endure srcastic, non productive comments. Better to say nothing!
Click for the shot Maddie.
nice one maddie i like the frame/border i always thinks it finishes a pic off but each to ther own lol........liz
In response to Jeff, who suggests "it's better to say nothing", I disagree. If people think the border is heavy...and in this example I do tend to agree with Katie about the table mat appearance...they should be able to say so without being accused of sarcasm. I feel the comment was productive and the photographer has the right to agree or not.
Back to the photo. I think it's just the thin line that creates that classic "table mat" look. Take that out and the border/frame is much stronger.
ever feel like your being watched! lol people pay alot of money for table mats like this!i did say in the write up that i like the big border as i know some dont, but not everyone reads peoples write ups, never mind i like it and so do the majority that have commented. I dont think any harm was meant in the comment, and len we are talking about todays frame not the other pics so i would say it was a fair analysis.you cant do a photo to suit everyones taste, you have to start with what you like first, and hope it pleases others, no offense taken
I have my eyes on everyone... lol. Just try it without the orange strip Maddie...so much better
beautiful roses i like the border.
I think it's great Maddie - and I like the border. The colour is beautiful and I think the border emphaises how delicate it is.
Pete it,s not whether one likes the border or not that I see as unnescessary sarcasm, as I said originaly to frame or not to frame is a personal thing as is the right to like it or not, and I defend Lens right to do that - it's the "eBorderzine" comment that is unproductive and unnessecary! Hope that straightens out my point for you.
Oh dear! When people start calling my gentle leg-pulling 'Sarcasm' things are a little silly. Just have a quick peep at my latest two uploads. It is Fun and Humour for me not Sarcasm.
I am reassured however that at least Maddie indicates she appreciates that, probably from our previous jousting. Her first reaction was LOL!
No point in prolonging this debate I feel, unless Jeff still has his problems, but it was fun to receive Pete's support. He has had to put up with my "Sarcasm" against himself significantly in the past, so that was a nice surprise.
Pleasing subject and interesting colours. Shame about the border, have to agree with the placemat thing. Still like it though.
Border aside...... its not to my taste either and rather over-powering.... lets concentrate on the photo....
When you look at the picture, your eye gets drawn to the rose in the top left of the frame as this is the only "complete" flower-head. Unfortunately, that head isn't in focus.... the one to the bottom right is and half of it isn't there. Its a very confussing shot to look at.
Is this a crop of a much larger image? If it is, move the crop down and to the right.... thst way you will get more of the in-focus rose in shot, making it much more pleasing to look at.
If not.... can you choose which focus point you use on your camera? On some cameras you can choose one of up to 7 different points, which helps when you are composing your shot.
Nice bright colours though.... and I'm sure we had some table mats like this too!!!
absolutely beautiful maddie love the prespective of shot .. stunning work
Lovely shot,nice detail and colour.
I like the soft rich color and all the curves of the petals. This is very well done.
a gorgeous colourful flower...guess its hard to please eveyone but I like it!
the colour is unusual & the crop is very good
Great colours and detail. Well presented Maddie!
You keep doing what you do x
could someone please tell me who has deleted the comments made on this photo please!as much as it has caused some debate i wonder why certain comments are still there! If it is still causing problems for you then delete the whole lot, its a bit late in the day to start changing things around, dont you think! the problem started before the comments that have actually been removed. I would like to know who has made the decision on the chosen few left, there is now only half a debate and i dont like what has been left as there is no explanation as to what was going on!...maddie
repeated twice by accident, im sure once is enough!
