Little Owl (athene noctua)
One of my favourite members of the owl family. A tiny bird ( weighing about 5-7 ozs ) but seems so full of character and energy. Currently, regretably, listed as declining. I am afraid that I cant report this as a wild bird. Could not persuade him to turn his head but I thought the eye we could see is quite imposing.

A beautiful little owl - splendid feather patterning. Sorry that it is in decline, hopefully they can breed these in captivity.

A fine portrait of this uncooperative little owl, you obviously didn't pay him/her enough to model for you!
Well captured Ron. It is interesting to note the longish flattened tip on the beak of this captive owl. Most predatory birds in this country are fed on dead day old chicks and the bones are too soft to allow the tip of the beak to abrade normally, which means that from time to time they need to be 'coped' - filed down to a normal size. I am not sure what the reasons are that they should be declining - sad fact as they are gorgeous little chaps. A
