Never taken a butterfly outside a hothouse..
But these were everywhere, and it seemed 'rude' not to at least ''try''!!
So many varieties, and here are three for you..sorry to those of you
that really can do them justice...but a one off try for me

Hand held and wrong lensWink

V2 small tortoiseshell
V3 Brimstone..cabbage pest!!

Thanks Bob, for your company over the weekend...a fun time.

Still problems off and on with internet..so uploads can take a while,
maybe if time call back?

will get back to London day out soon...as loads to share

So well done finding and capturing these three.

You have done pretty well here, Lillian: I'd be happy just seeing some of these, never mind capture them in camera.
Of the 3 my favourite is the Brimstone at V 3.

great you went for it.. the lavender makes a gorgeous background texture. If you ever want any hints how to make it easier, I'll happily tell you.
In a HOTHOUSE you said? you mean one that got caught in your verandah/conservatory? Well there you go, if that happens I am only concerned how to catch it very gently and rescue it. I think once when it was actually too cold outside I took a picture of a moth in my verandah.

Do they often come into your conservatory or greenhouse? maybe leave a window open, we found several dead marbled whites and a fritillary I was quite sorry about it, the storm had slammed the door and they never found the small opening.

I haven't a butterfly for ages, too hot here I think, they have all found a nice place in the shade somewhere. A lovely image so I can enjoy the butterflies you have managed to capture (photographically speaking that is).

Well DONE, Lillian. Especially the shots in Vs 1 and 3. I really like those.

I've been too lazy to try butterfly shots for the longest time now. Not that I would normally try for them anyway. But there's something satisfying getting a nice shot of one Smile

The peacock is the pick of the bunch Lillian, it's good to see so many of them about now. Brimstones do not pose any danger to cabbages Lillian, it is the small and large whites as Brian has said. They also lay their eggs on rocket and nasturtiums
