I think this may be a Long Dash Skipper or Polites mystic but I am not as good at insect and butterfly ID as I am flowers and trees. I hope someone will correctly identify it if I am wrong.
He seems to like the iris, as he is spending a lot of time on them.

Aww...cute skipper! Well caught, Joline. I looked up Polites mystic on Google images but can't find a shot with the same underwing markings. If you add 'insect' to your tags, some insect folk might pop by and be able to help out with the exact ID.

Joline - I'm no expert on ID but, looking through three illustrated books, I can only come up with the suggestion that it's a Large Skipper with slightly unusual markings.
