The Fox (vulpes vulpes)

I have fairly mixed views about foxes- dont know whether to love 'em or hate 'em. I certainly dont think they belong in an urban environment although I am happy with them in the rural areas.
Anyone seen the Springwatch lot ?? Family of 11 cubs in a back garden ( even a large one ) is madness. I think it sets a very bad example.
However I do concede that when they are healthy and in their proper locations they are most handsome animals. Just keep your chickens under lock and key !!!GrinGrin

I beautiful specimen. What gorgeous eyes! I have only seen a couple here, I know there are lots but lots of land for them to roam. Never seen one that wasn't running or a great distance away. Lucky you, to capture an image of this beauty, Patti SmileSmileSmile

Wonderful capture
I know a man who has a chicken farm and his attitude is he will loose some every year to the local fox family
There also was a fox on my allotments.. He kept the rats and mice down ... happy me
But someone poisoned him..Sad

I too agree with your remarks about the urban fox, many of which we have around us.
But what a fine portrait shot you have captured, it's eyes bright and strongly focussed and ears on the alert.

Superb shot - that long lens has isolated the fox so well from the background. The eyes are so sharp and clear, giving an indication of the intelligence and alertness of this particular animal.

Agree they need to be away from urban area's Ron, ( also they get the blame for everything going as well!)
but such a beautiful shot captured here and those eye's a real wow to those

I recently read that there are more fox and coyotes in New York city than there are in the rural areas. Apparently they are so good at adapting to humans that they are thriving on our refuse. They are a beautiful creature, but watch your cats as well as your chickens!

Wonderful capture Ron and good eye contact.
Have to look at man who is to blame here. What came first, yep it was the fox. So you must say we are invading the Fox's habitat rather than saying a fox in an Urban Area. Very quickly now countryside is being built on and the fox is being squeezed out, also man is to blame as they feed them and so they remain in urban areas. Learn to live with them, as we do all the bloody immigrants here

Aye! I'll second that. Here in Canada, its the clever coyote who checks the campsites for food left behind by us campers. A little respect from us and coyotes and bear are very civil, I find. TG
