I think this is a narrow bordered 5 spot Burnet, It was resting on the back window of a car..
First time I've ever seen one.......

So that's what it is!
I saw (and nearly photographed) one of these on the Downs this afternoon. Just before the dog stuck his nose in!

Your best photo yet, I think.
Prefer it to the spider anyway.
They are very striking butterflys found near the coast.

Once I spotted this I carried out a bit of research and found that these are not butterflys, they are day flying moths..
