An early morning mist floats over the calm waters of Ullswater, and from the mist two trees and a lone bench emerge as if by magic....

....many thanks to Charlie Waite for pointing it out to me, and for the ducks who arrived in just the right place at the right moment.

Great shot! The simple composition and misty background work really well and black and white is perfect for this kind of work. Personally, I'd prefer it without the ducks (they interrupt the texture) but it's not a biggie.

A really atmospheric image.
Personally, I'd have been hugely tempted to crop out the tree to the right, but I can't for the life of me explain why I think that would improve the composition.

Thank you all for the great comments, as well as the votes.

Barry, well you won't be too amazed to hear I do have images of just the right hand tree and bench, although taken from a slightly different angle to this which made for a better composition. One day I may show one here, but I think I'll give pictures from this particular trip a rest for a while.
