It's been quite a while since my last upload- life took me on one of her journeys- so here's a silly ditty I took playing about with a couple of new speedlights, just for a bit of fun.

Pleasant composition, soothing, I don't know for sure but I feel cloud does not go with the subject.

Thank you Viki, what more fitting compliment could a picture get!

Welcome back, Malc!

This brought a smile to my face on this damp and dreary morning. I love the fish and the boat - well positioned, good colours and nice shadows too.

I agree with Nikola about the cloud not quite fitting in. I suppose it's because the fish and the boat are real objects whereas I guess you have put the clouds in after taking the shot. I wonder if it might help is there was more of them? I think it is just the one in the middle which perhaps doesn't quite work.

Good to see you posting and perhaps critting again.

Best wishes

Catherine

THANK YOU Catherine,
It does ones soul good to be remembered!

I did add the cloud into an otherwise very 'straight' (for me anyway) shot, half to simply fill what I thought was a bit of an empty a space, half to create a visual conundrum.... ie an 'odd feeling', that hopefully needs some thought.

Cheers,
malc

The shot as a whole works really well for me.

I rather like the idea of the cloud being there but having read what's been said, it entered my head that a "toy" cloud might work better.

Find a seven-year-old and give him some paints and a piece of cardboard. That kind of cloud!

Bren.

The elements are different sizes.... this is true, but the cloud holds it together for me and it is fun.

Glad to see you posting again, Malcolm. I love this image, the bath towel 'sea' really ties the subjects in and for me the cloud fills the space well. Very expressive of the journey you are experiencing, I think.

Look forward to catching up with you at Amersham next week.

Sandra,

It's good to hear from you- I feared we had lost you at APS as I haven't seen you there, so I look forward to catching up on what the two of you have been up to on Monday. Maybe we can convince you to share some of your lovely pictures with us this year...?

Your comment does reveal a core truth- "a year of anniversaries" someone called it, and today is day 111 as it happens which, if you're into spiritual numerology, apparently represents a gateway to a new life. Must rush....Sainsbury's beckons....
