A recent image of Bear Island photographed whist cruising to Spitzbergen. Inhabited by meteorologists only and many birds. The rock formation is volcanic which can be seen clearly in the image.
(Bear Island is dark, lonely and cold island in the Barents Sea halfway between the North Cape of Norway and Spitzbergen made famous by Alistair Maclean in his murder/mystery/thriller published in the early 1970's).
