Hi Mark,

I missed this the first time around but I am surprised you received no comments. I think this may have worked better if you had positioned yourself to not only get the gate but also more of the lane leading your eye away from the gate and into the image. With the gate being closed it can act as a barrier and your eyes only look along the fence line so in effect your only looking at half the image, this of course is only my opinion. In the mod I have extended the lane a touch but I don't think it will give you the idea of what I mean, also i've made it a bit more gritty by overlaying a B&W copy onto the colour one. See what you think.

I like the look of old wood also. Did you try it from different angles or as a vertical shot to include the tree skeletons.

The light is coming from behind the gate, Mark, and creating some lovely shadows on the path, so I agree with Martin, and think that if you had got more perspective on the fence, and included more of the path and shadows, the image would have had more impact.
