Taken when the Rifles Regiment was given the freedom of the city (Hereford) toward the end of 2009. I was not intending to post it at all but over the past months the regiment has lost a number of service personnel while on active duty in Afghanistan.

Lovely tribute Gerry, its such a waste of life and so sad. I love the atmospheric depth of field in this one, and really suits mono too.

Excellent decision to use black and white for this shot. Really throws another element of emotion into the photo.
A fitting tribute to the men and women fighting overseas.

Well Done

Stew.

The selective focus is superb and it really catches the moment with that rain falling and the soldiers standing to attention. A most suitable tribute to brave men.

A very well done shot, the bugler stands out so well and the bg blurred people gives a complete feel to the image.

As a long serving member of the Army ( in fact in one of the Regiments which now help to make up the Rifles ) this is a subject dear to my heart. Very tastefully done Gerry. A cracking shot.

Beautiful. I love the way that the bugler is so sharp, while you can still see the rain falling.

A superb capture - excellent dof, and the rain makes it authentic as a reminder of the actual day
