In a Flap

In a Flap by ringyneck

Quote: Your shutter speed should have been around 1/300, not 1/80. You would find using a higher shutter speed, the wings would then have been better focused.

I think the shutter speed is just right, the blur in the wings shos how still these birds hold their head when they are hovering. I've wanted to take a shot like this myself but never had teh opportunity. Well done!

Under the boardwalk

Under the boardwalk by Nick_w

This works very well Nick, All the elements come together perfectly - texture in the timbers above, texture in the sand below, shadows from the uprights, plus the pier leading off to the right. Then to finish off there are the figures (or posts?) in the distance, which give depth to the image and a link to the horizon - the one between the 2nd & 3rd upright from the left is perfectly placed.

Keep up the good work,
Martin

Superb shot, lovely pastel tones, great sky & foreground, plus movement in the water. One of our favourite cormers of the country - we'll be there next week, but your secret is safe with me Wink.
