Puffins always look very serious, so it was amusing to see this one pulling a face. His mate looks quite horrified.
Taken on a recent trip to Inner Farne, amazing how close you can get to the birds - this is only a slight crop on a 200mm lens.

Brilliant! Nice to see one of them having a funny moment as well! Am really looking forward to finally going to the Farnes this year, even though I've got Skomer on my doorstep

The 70-200 was good for pair of puffins like this (thats on a D300 so equivalent to 300mm), but for individual birds it was a bit short. I took my 1.7x tc, but its no always the best combination sharpness wise, although I did use it a few times. On Inner Farne you can get really close to shags & gullimots and the 70-200 was ideal for those. There will be more birds about when you go - we were there early May, so not so many around.
