Having listened to my husband singing Carly Simons Your So Vain all the time I was trying to take some half decent images this is the best I can do ! This has been a challenging task as I hate having my photograph taken at the best of times plus I have been quite ill with the flu for the last 2 weeks so its not very adventurous
I will put up the colour version as a mod

Two lovely self-portraits, have to go with the colour version, with those glorious blue eyes. Carol

I like the mono version. It has character and is an attractive image. The colour version shows your eyes off well. Your smile shows a relaxed portrait. The gold at the top of your head is distracting. A cleaner background would enhance this image. You may be able to clean that up in photoshop. The skin tones are good and natural. Two good images that show a friendly attractive face off well.

you've done a really good job - I think firstly you've done yourself proud with the pose. An open, inviting and friendly smile with sharp, wide eyes is always and engaging pose.

Mono is my favourite choice for portarits too. I think you see more of the person and less of the colour.

I've menioned this on another shot, but it's often best to shoot at a quite wide angle when doing portraits so you then can choose many crops - though I think you my be a bit low in the frame, i don't think it's such an issue here.

Also, just be wary of backgrounds - can be tricky to avoid distractions when you're not looking through the lens, so maybe use a sheet or something - maybe a plain wall. Here you've got a white strip down the right of the shot which does stand out from the darker backdrop.

nicely done though - hope you enjoyed the challenge

Thank you for the critique on my shot I agree about the background the strip is the curtain against the wall I didn't see how messy it was till it was pointed out and will try some cleaner backgrounds later overall I am happy with what I did but still don't like having my photo taken !
Its been a good learning curve though and a good challenge

Rather than comment on the technical issues mentined by the others I'd just like to say beautiful portrait of a beautiful lady.
