Moses Greenleaf was very active in making Maine a separate state from Massachusetts. He was a surveyor and cartographer, and was the first to map the state showing accurately its many lakes and rivers. This house is near where I live, and has been faithfully restored. It dates from around 1800, a mere child by European standards, but quite old for the US. It is very typical of the style of farm houses in the area, but better preserved.

Thought this wasn't British as soon as it appeared - the building looks in very fine condition.

The pioneer who found a good place to settle and put down roots.
I like your low viewpoint, looking through the undergrowth and trees. Very green and pleasant.

Looks a very delightful residence, nice capture, Joline, with the house being framed by the trees and the grass providing foreground interest Smile

Very interesting informations ( as usual) of an adorable specific historical house for the Eastern USA, lovely framed in vegetation.
