This was a product shot that I took a while back. I'm quite happy with this; I chose a large aperture to throw-out the background and have the eye rest firmly on the subject of the shot in the middle of the frame.
Thanks for looking,
Michael.

Recognised the knitwear even in the thumbnail... I love the idea, it reminds me of Harvest Festival images, hands holding wheat or vegetables.
Looking at this, I started off wishing that the focus was on the central pink knitted flower rather than on the finger tips. After a bit it's grown on me, the softness of the wool, the precision of the hands. I still think I'd like to see a slightly smaller aperture, maybe f2.8 and the focus on that middle flower, for comparison. But it's probably a bit late for that now...

I see your points, Moira. However, the focus does fall on a few of the corsages (particularly the purple one at the front) so I didn't see it as a problem. I may have an opportunity to shoot something similar in December, so I guess I can keep your points in mind.
Thanks for the thoughtful critique. ![]()
It's the sort of image that I love, it's personal. You're not going to see another shot like it on the next row of the Gallery...
I see the focus on the nearest stitches. I guess for me it's the fact that the middle pink flower sort of dominates the collection colour-wise. But that's just me...
A beauty of a shot - speaks to me of the countless women who make wonderful bits of with their hands - of my grandmother, my mother an on and on.
The selective focus works beautifully as does the composition.
