Brilliant, Koen - love this, the tones are outstanding. Well done on another fabulous candid and quality b&w image to complement your terrific portfolio. I've quite a bit of catching up to do with your more recent posts and will do so soon ... in the meantime, hope this finds you and yours feeling fine!

Very, very good, although the white chair is maybe a touch too white as it grabs my attention more than the other parts.

You've excelled yourself here Koen. The toning treatment on this image is absolutely stunning.

Probably my favourite of all your work is this.

Dave.

This is just so like David Deveson's style! I love how all the individual articles in the shot contribute to the overall effect. Altogether a superlative composition. I'd love to see it in colour also.

Very good indeed. Does have a touch of the DD's about it (not a bad thing). I agree on the white chair comment but still awfully good.

A very well deserved HC.. class image. (Whispering conspiritorally behind hand: Personally think its a bit mean.. EC quality easily). But you are now batting with the big boys.. think David and Sugarbird better budge over a bit.

Terrific work, shame that the chair was pointed out because now I can't stop noticing it! Lovely tones and treatment. Have you applied a slight vignette?

Thank you Pete ! Glad you liked it.
And thank you all nice peeps Smile

Ian, the plastic chairs always bother me (some thing look bad in reality but good on photo... those plastic chairs just look horrible either way), but you'll often see them in my photos as there's no way avoiding them here in Bangkok. The one you're refering to was very light green, and I often have exposure problems with them. They always seem to give so much reflection/overexposure. Actually did some burning on it, but yes, it's bright and therefor tone-wise not really in harmony with the rest of the image.

Susie, thanks... all fine here

Dave... actually made me blush (and lol for your 2nd comment)

John, thanks for taking the time to look at the large version

Mr blueunderscorewater ;o)... there I go blushing again (I'm still in the minor league though)

Neville... no vignetting... did some burning though in PS. And after sepia-ed and tinted (or is that vignetting) in Picasa.

Anyway, I liked this photo mostly because of the composition of the person and the "stuff" and for the wall. He was sitting on the sidewalk, so completely open before him, but above him the food stall was (partly) covered with canvas. The little bit of light coming trough from above for me really brought that wall to life.

Thank you again

It is so perfect! It's as if you arranged all the elements just perfectly before you took the shot and then hired a model to pose just right. The chair looks fine to me. I keep thinking of new vs. old in this one.

great photo, another one of your best. The wall ads drama and works extremely well in this contrasty bl&w. well deserved click and shame on Pete for just giving it an HC.
