Rainbow Falls.....
The 80-foot Rainbow Falls is renowned for the rainbow formed from its mist many mornings.
Legends say that the cave beneath the waterfall was the home of Hina, mother of the demigod Maui.
The most dramatic time to view these falls is after a rain, this is when the greatest volume of water flows over the falls.
The noise is increased significantly, also. When you see and hear the water roaring over Rainbow Falls, you will fell great respect for the power of nature.
If you are lucky enough to arrive at sunrise, often you will see an enormous rainbow stretching across the lagoon.
With so much rain in the Hilo area, you will see vibrant vegetation and lush rain forest around the Wailuku River.
