From a trip to New Brighton about a month ago. This is about 1 1/2 hours after sunset. Navigating the rocks in pitch black was a "challenge".
3 Minutes @ F16
Whilst some may not like the flare, its what made the image for me.
Fantastic image - great work !
Excellent shot. Love the colours remaining in the sky!
Thanks Chris & Ollie.
I'm getting a lot of unique views, if theres a problem I've missed could you let me know what it is please.
amazing... truly beautiful work !
Wonderful image , great detail and texture in the fg and fab light /tones
Lovely shot great colours and tones .Rob
Some nice elements in this Nick, particularly the light catching the ridges in the fg rocks. The number of lights flaring across the Mersey are quite intrusive though and fight for competition - especially that really big one - possibly even winning over the lighthouse.
Might be a reason for the passing traffic ... but unless people say then you won't know I suppose ... a common problem of mine to
Still gets my vote though,
For any of those who might have doubts, go look large to see the magic.
Like your composition Nick and the colours and lights are great.
Good foreground details too.
Well worth the tricky walk out.
great shot. like the lights in the background.
Thanks everyone, and a big thanks Paul, I really appreciate it - I nearly took out most of the large flare - and will do so for the print (I'm awaiting on some more ink). I'm not 100% convinced with the prime is mightily sharp, but as its quite an old design it does suffer from flare quite a bit - here most of it helps - but not all.
EDIT : Thanks Melanie for the award really appreciated.
You do stay up late to get your shots of late Nick but it proves to be worth it, as said cracking light on those rocks as for the flare doesn't worry to much but I know you will do whatever for the print
Superb image - great colour and comp. Those fg rocks are fabulous.
Stunning colours like the lights on the right
Thanks everyone. As Les mentioned I've consciously started to stay longer before heading home (or back to the hotel).
What amazes me is the colours that are still in the sky often invisible to the naked eye - this was at 9:30 a few weeks back when sunset was at 8PM.
I actually think the flare adds to the shot, and the strips of light on the fg rocks is lovely. Cracking image, and well worth staying out for!
Looks good to me Nick and I quite like the flare.
Excellent shot but would prefer it without the big flare. That said, this image easily gets my click.
That's a very special shot Nick and I've gotta agree that sparkle adds another dimension to the shot
Really like this shot Nick, and also like the fact that you didn't pack up just after the sun dissapeared!
Great comp and pin sharp.
A really superb image Nick. The reflected light on the wet rocks makes the image for me.
Exceptional photo, love it.
I agree - some would avoid the lights but I think they enhance the image.
Fab' night shot Nick, beautiful light - think the starburst is quite effective! I like the light catching the fg rocks!
A super composition and stunning quality image, Nick, love the colours - and the starburst effect.
'Navigating the rocks in pitch black was a "challenge".' but well worth it for such a great result... Dave
That light is amazing.
