WHEN John Dodd was a boy, farms all over Northumberland used heavy horse power. Now his is the only one that relies almost exclusively on horses to work the land. Mr Dodd, who is approaching his 80th birthday, has six Clydesdales on his 200-acre farm at Sillywrea near Hexham ....
This week I hope to show images of John and his Son in law cutting the hay with the aid of two of his horses Robin And Jimmy
This image shows John and these beautiful Animals and large looks canny.

Wow Lucky you to have the opportunity for these shots
You really have captured it well
A truely beautiful shot
Fabulous portrait of an amazing man - he was a client of ours when I was working in Hexham, I'm delighted to see that he's still going strong. Good one of Robin & Jimmy too. Really looking forward to more of these!
Moira
Normal looks very canny indeed, Danny, and Large looks even cannier. I'm already looking forward to more of the series.

outstanding Pro. My relatives in our province are still using our Nat'l Animal w/c is the Carabao or Water Buffalo. No problem for the high price of diesel and gasoline plus air pollution. Still, they can harvest their rice fileds 2x/yr instead of traditional once/yr.
Another fine ''product'' from Scotland here Danny. When I was a boy,I spent many years looking at their backsides, when I delivered the milk in a horse drawn cart !! Had a nice little sideline selling the manure to the allotment owners too !! Where there's muck, there's brass !!
Good take.
Mick.
The horses are absolutely wonderful Danny, I love Clydesdales as much as they seem to love working.
When I was at school there was a brewery behind me which used Clydsedales and when I worked at the Daily Record there was another brewery who used Clydesdales.
Look forward to more of them in your images Danny.
All the very best my friend,
Dougie
Superb image Danny, this is really something to treasure - I could imagine that not only Mr. Dodd would hang it over the fireplace!
Johanna
Excellent Danny - I thought this would look good when you described it but it lloks beter in the flesh (so to speak).
The viewpoint makes the image and the framing of him through the two horses really holds them together. A master class in photography!
Beautiful horses & so good to see them still working.Lovely dof to bring the main subjects forward from the bg.
Just seems a touch flat for me though, perhaps could do with a slight curves lift..although I notice you haven't converted to sRGB for posting on the web...sometimes the culprit for a loss of colour punch.
Nicely composed with them coming over the brow of a hill.
