"I never saw a discontented tree" - John Muir.

The first in a short travel series, Photos of Shawhead. Shawhead is a (very) small village in Dumfries and Galloway, Scotland. Great wee place, always nice to go for a walk. I have relatives there, and spent this weekend relaxing before starting my summer placement (i.e. spending every day in a suit) - so thought I'd photograph some of the more unusual or interesting features of the area.

First up is this rather simple scene - nothing more to it than a tree on a hill, but the colours seemed so simple and clean. Coming from a city (Glasgow) I don't get much chance to see anything like this. The little tree at the side seemed to add that little extra touch of interest. I left plenty of sky in as that is the one thing I think of with the countryside - clear skies with no buildings.

Its wonderful. I love the little tree being dwarfed even more by the big tree. The composition is great.

Nicely spotted. the fence around the tree adds something to it too. Nick.

I think the small tree is saying "I want to stand on the top when I grow up" Smile
But why is the 'grown-up' tree fenced in? Has she been naughty? Maybe the little tree is waiting for her to come out and play! Smile
Rania (not really mad)

Brilliant Rania, you've added an extra bit to my smile today after that comment! Stuck in the office, such a contrast to going for walks around Shawhead Sad

Excellent shot that conveys so much. There's a lot of symbolism in this.
