There was some fishermen working on their boat, and I took a pic of their EH tool. For the less technically minded,an EH tool is an Emergency Hammer. It is used in cases of extreme frustration and in a very erratic manner when you cannot find that screwdriver or spanner you were using only a few minutes previously !!

An interesting shot -- with very informative commentary.
Seems the EH tool knows no international borders. I have ruined many a computer keyboard using my own EH tool.

This is rather an artistic still life.
An EH hammer sounds a very useful tool!

Excellent description. You have shown a trade well that I'm less familiar with.
In the motor trade, this tool is use to undo bolts torqued up to VFT grade. It also (Mick, I'll hurt your feelings now, sorry) serves to dislocate layers of rust that hold Landrovers together.
Another application is the ESP. (emergenscy start procedure) Aim EH carefully at starter motor solenoid and whack.

Xlent detail and comp. Mike - Sydney had a rather famous Detective many years ago; I'll call him SMITH for the purposes of this story - he had a long handled tool such as this - it was referred to as "Smith's Key" by his squad, and it could open any door, just like a "Master Key"....Bill

Wonderful shot with super colours, textures and light. These essential items are arranged so artfully that I cannot believe it was accidental. I have my own EH for use with misbehaving computers. It is a particular sequence of specific words that I couldn't possibly print here for fear of being chucked off the site, but it works a treat.

Thanks for the definition of EH, I was struggling over that. It sounds remarkably like Bill's Emergency Lumix, except that he doesn't hit things with it. Well not often.
Being a woman, I tend to use the heel of a shoe, but I appreciate that this is a bit sophisticated.
Nice lines and angles, by the way. Very nice.

Aha that is what it is called. Think my husband was using one the other day. He put up my new wall mounted dovecot - upside down! Am quite sure that he wanted to use his EH on me when I pointed this out as he was putting in the last few screws. My reward for my honesty was to be made to support the damn thing while he took it down again, then get a crack across the bridge of my nose with it as he lost his grip (or temper) when lowering it to me.
Good informative shot TongueGrin. Moira

It used to be said that Tyneside shipyard workers used a single phrase of Japanese.

Roughly transliterated, it was : "Haway hinnie hoyza hama".

(Translated into English : I say, old fellow, please be so kind as to fling that EH over in my direction.)

Now you know.

Regards
Bill

P.S.: Superb comp., combination, tones, textures . . . .

What's this Mick? a shiney piece of metal in your photo, tut tut.Grin

An EH where I was dragged up is better known as a BS, or Brummie Screwdriver. A very useful tool when all else fails.Grin

Great documentary shot of work in progress, it's just a small portion of that work but suggests a much larger picture.

This is a beautifully composed still life in rust Mick. Like Lynne, I can't believe it was accidental and do we see a hitherto hidden artistic side to the Mick we know?

I have a very bad memory wrt to one of these EH's. I couldn't find the regular hammer when I needed it to pound a small stake into the ground - EH to the rescue, and one smashed finger. Drove myself to the hospital and ended up with 5 stitches in my left index finger. I will not go on about the amount of red stuff that came out of the wound - if we ever meet, I'll show you my scar Tongue

This is a wonderful found still life Mick, very nicely composed. Did you move some of the things around to get those nice diagonals throughout - I hope you did.
