Very well caught especially in what must have been low light conditions. Great shot.
Brian.
Thanks for the comments. This was taken with a brand new D70 straight out of the box, with a Sigma 70 - 300 F5.6 APO fitted. Exposure was set on manual by accident (!) and was I think 1/60th at F8. ISO was set at 400 for the low light. I wasn't actually aware it was raining as this was taken from where I was sat inside the car. Seagull was hovering in a strong head wind.
Must say that first impression of the D70 is... WOW. Second impression is ... must try the Sigma 50 - 500 on it!
So sharp it gives this seagull a personality!! Brilliantly captured!
Marc
Miles - this is great, I love the rain as well as the bird! Fantastic,
Edward
Congratulations on an excellent shot and a well deserved award.
Richard
Wow, didn't expect this. Thank you for the comments, and thank you for the award Pete. Have to smile a little at this, The first reel of film I ever put through my F80, one of the images from Poole Park won an EC, and now on the D70, the first few pictures, also from Poole Park, this one wins an EC. Must be something to do with Nikons ![]()
great shot miles. i looked straight away to see what camera you used and was surprised to see D70! Those Lee filters werent enough to quench the appetite I see
Whats it like then? I have to admit Im tempted!
Adam.
Superb Stuff once again what about shooting a bad shot just to show us you can.Well done
Derek
A great capture Miles. Congratulations on the EC. The definition and composition are superb .
BTW . I like and am amazed at your bio picture. I imagined you as a venerable old man with siver hair as you are so knowledgable and such a great photographer. Didn't realise I was talking to a YOUNG man

Fantastic shot! near to perfect as you can probably be. I love the whole feel of it, everything seems to fit together, the colours of the gull with the background and the rain and the border too! Not to mention its so sharp you could cut yourself on it!
Well done!
Matt
They don't come better than this ooooh, congratulations *****
