For some reason the police were stopping people walking along the promenade right in front of the boat.

Thanks for your comments folks. I did take some more 'ship-focussed' shots Ron, but I liked how this showed the land-based 'aftermath' (for want of a better word!).

Weird. Wonder why. Do they think that people will want to throw themselves at the boat if not restrained by the thought of a kindly policeman standing nearby? Or swim out to it from that particular spot? Very odd. Wink

I think this pic appeals because it feels incongruous - and so an interesting photodocumentary pic taken in context with your description.
