Morning all. Tokyo Tower used to be the TV broadcasting mast for Tokyo. At 330 metres, the tower was taller than the Eiffel Tower, and was opened in 1958. There are 2 viewing observatories. The main observatory is situated at 150m, and a special observatory is at 250m. I only went up to the first observatory Grin. Was amazed that I managed that. There are a few floors at the base of the tower, which house the usual touristy shops, restaurants, an aquarium and a wax museum. It has served it's purpose, and now a higher tower is required, so the Tokyo Sky Tree was built. The Tokyo Tower no longer gives adequate signal for digital terrestrial television due to being surrounded by high rise buildings.
The Sky tree is now the tallest structure in Japan at 634m. You can go up to observation gallery in it too, however we did not manage to visit the Sky Tree. I have included a shot of the Sky Tree taken from the Tokyo Tower. The Sky Tree opened in May this year.
Thanks for C&Cs on yesterday's upload.

The lower part of the Tokyo Tower does resemble the Eiffel Tower in structure and your low light image has captured it so well.
V 2 showing the new tower is impressive too as it soars beyond the surrounding buildings.
Ronnie.

Two excellent night shots Moira. I do prefer the looks of the Tokyo Tower to the Sky Tree. A very good descriptive narrative.
