A lovely composition and a fascinating comparison. V1 brings out detail, but at the cost of a sense of depth. Lightening shadows always carries the risk of flattening the image, giving a 2-D effect. I think I'd go for somewhere between these two.

Beautiful shot; great composition and light. I find it difficult to say which I prefer - I think like Moira - something between the two! Smile
