Well, after a month of early mornings every weekend and during the holidays I still haven't seen, never mind photographed, the bird some of you refer to as a Kingfisher.

So moving swiftlly on, I managed to snap this Small Tortoiseshell whilst trying to tackle the wilderness that has taken over outside. It didn't land for long, when it did it wouldn't land where I wanted. I know it isn't great, but it is my first butterfly, and i'm more afraid of these than birds lol. I also think I need a nice Macro lens it would definetly be sharper then Smile

Great capture of the Tortoise Shell/ Kingfisher hybrid!
Standard lenses are fine for capturing these fellas, I find it best to stop a lense down to about f8 to increase the sharpness and then manually focus on the head and hope the rest comes out sharp, its best if you are square on to them and ask them to behave and pose!!
All the Best
