This lovely bullock looked so inquisitive; but in fact they were hanging around the gate hoping to move fields as most of the grass had gone. He was bred on the farm the other side of the valley opposite our house.

Normally, I'd say placing you main subject square in the middle is not the best course of action. Yet, it works, so that from this banal shot of animal husbandry, you manage to create a kind of abstraction that encapsulates the animal's expectation. I just wondered about the background because it introduces a larger reality, whereas we are dealing with a moment (and a particular group movement, so typical). Try to blank it out and you'll see it improves, at least as I see it, the dynamics of the shot. Regards,
