If you thought my last gannet photo was of a fierce looking bird, then this one has to even meaner looking! It was taken at the same location, ie Bass Rock.
Thank you to everybody for their comments and votes on the previous gannet image.
A tremendous shot, well done!
I wonder if a touch of Curves might make it even better, just a thought.
Great capture of this lovely bird
Wonderful eye contact, detail and colours.... well done Ann.
Superb head on portrait of this gannet, the gaze straight down the barrel of your lens, and that is a rather mean countenance.
Excellent photo of this stunning bird! Great detail
Very nice detailed image.
Very up close and personal
fantasick shot lovely eyes and i like the water on its head nice and sharp. christine
Have now added a variant, having taken BriannSS's advice and applied a touch of curves. I wonder if I have done this correctly and if it is now better? Ann.
Ooooo....terrific shot !!......wonderful 'look', & so crisp.....with V2 having a bit more 'zing'....1st class !!!
If it were mine, I'd be tempted to crop 10% from both sides.....but that's being picky ??.
What a wonderful shot and you have done so well to hold all that detail in those whites. The water on its plumage is a bonus.
A fabulous, fabulous shot.
I think with V2 you have made a super shot even better!
Well done Ann - this is an excellent shot with full on eye contact and super detail!
Wonderful close up, Ann, fills the frame beautifull, fantastic detail and colours, luv the water droplets, which really lift the image.
Brilliant piece of work, well done Ann.
A cracking close up.
Gosh, this is the most votes I have ever had on EPZ, so a big thank you to everybody as I feel so humbled and honoured. Ann.
What an expression and certainly not one I'd want to be on the receiving end of! Outstanding capture.
Excellent shot. V2 is improved. I would also suggest that you apply a little more sharpening after re sizing and before uploading; the colour temp is slightly warm, a touch cooler looks better, ad you can add a lot if the simply touch the eyes with a 2 pixel white brush on a layer, then adjust opacity to place a hint of cathclights to bring some life to those big eyes. And, if you can tone down highlights a touch, theres some great feather detail that pops out.
Good idea to turn mods on occasionally?
Wonderful image Ann
He must be jealous of your 100/400mm.
lovely portrait. the feather details and the water droplets are nicely captured. for me the birds eyes are the draw in this photograph. they are really staring at you. you have my user award today.
What a excellent shot brill detail.
Wonderful detailed shot and eye contact.
Superb image, No1 for me.
The gaze of a bewigged High Court judge looking down on some miscreant whose about to get his comeuppance.
V2 without doubt.
