First off great pose and expression. The skin tones are perfect, as is the exposure.

I'm sorry but I feel the lighting is a little flat, I think you could work on the placement of lights and lighting ratios

Its not the best, but you'll get the idea.

Your "wooden boy" image is much better with the position of the light source.

I found a website on basic lighting styles: http://home.earthlink.net/~terryleedawson/id11.html
For this model / style of shot I'd go for butterfly lighting, for which you'd use a soft light above the model and slightly in front. See the website for more details. I've used it in some of my recent shots.

I hope you dont think I'm being rude, I just wanted to help.
