Hi All - Friday at last!!!!! (Only one more left this half-term!)
Anyway, I just wanted to say thanks for your support and comments on my images from the Southport Musical Fireworks last weekend.
I was advised by someone (!) to take a few exposures before the fireworks got started to check focus and composition - and ended up with this.
I rather like it, hope you do too - Thanks ever so for getting this far - you might as well opt for LARGE now you're here!!!
26secs @ f11 ISO 160 (no idea why!)
Have a great evening - catch up with you all soon
...who needs fireworks with a light display as good as this?
Beautiful Image!!!...Great composition and use of light...
Wow! my fav' so far in the 'dark' set Fran'.
Thanks Mike, Tom & John
(Mine too, if I'm honest, John!)
Great picture Fran, Wonderful lighting. Today was my first day of my school Holiday in Scotland.
Thought you were going to upload your other 'test shot' TBH
A little 'ordinary' by comparison to your previous uploads and because there's no action in it there's a bit too much of an expanse of bland sky ... obviously composed for the aerial onslaught to come.
Do like the effect of the aperture on the light sources though x
Thanks Connor & MrS
Appreciate your input, Boss, but it's that effect that makes me like this one so much xxx
turned out nice again, what you get when your not even trying
I like the starburst too Fran, pretty good for a test shot.
I drive past this most days & I've taken it at night. One to put on the list. I hope I do as well as you.
Excellent as always
Impressive! Lovely night time shot.
friday it is gal
Looks like our paths will cross at the end of the month, but without meeting...if that makes sense
We leave Inverness on the Thursday morning, as you lot are heading for Davie's.
We were going to pop in and see him, but it transpires he is away for a couple of days.
No doubt taking in some R&R before you all marmalize him .
Would have loved to have been there, but we have to fit things around our Dan's school mid term & football, so we need to be back home sometime on the Friday.
Stopping a few miles south of Newcastle overnight, on the way back.
Anyway...make sure you have a cracking time
Makes for a great night time abstract Fran.
I have looked at this several times tonight Fran and yes I do like it, well controlled and composed, but I agree with Paul on the expanse of black, maybe a subtle border to differentiate between the E2 black B/G and the nightscape could just balance it up a bit.
A stunning night image, Fran, very well captured. Carol
Thanks everyone for your thoughts and for taking the time to comment, really appreciated
Shame we'll be like ships that pass in the night, Adrian.
Certainly willing to give your suggestion a try - better go and find out how to do borders, Stewart!
Superb lowlight capture.
Beautifully crisp and clean image, the sky space is inky black, perfect night for fireworks.
Thanks Robert & Dougie
I love it! As a throwaway test shot it's a remarkably fine piece of work.
Really like the simple composition of this one Fran.
I have recently started to learn low light photography. I came across your tips on ephotozine for photographing fireworks, I can't wait to have a go but I'm not getting it. Do you press the shutter again after each exposure? or does the shutter stay open, hence the black card. Hope I don't sound too thick only had my D-SLR a couple of months. Your photos are amazing and very inspirational, if I get the technique I will be thrilled to produce even one on a par with yours. Kind regards
