Our neighbour Ann getting to know her first grandchild.
This was a grab shot, taken as loads of relatives milled around the house. It wasn't set up, planned or posed. Well Eva was posing like mad but Ann wasn't. I think it records a special moment though.
I know there's subject movement. I didn't want to use flash or up the ISO too high. And even new-born babies can move their hands quite fast!
Thanks for looking,
Moira

A moment in time captured for the family album, works well in B/W
John
Thank you everyone - interesting that voting so far is over 90% male. I just love statistics...
I gave Ann some prints of this, she complained that I hadn't used skin smoothing on her. People are getting far too savvy.

A family album that will be treasure for a long time to come. Add me to your statistics, I can goo goo along with the rest. Babies can be quite fantastic.
One day soon these little fingers will find that lovely pendant...

Voting is still 80% male, our rugged rusty men are sweet softies at heart. ![]()
Thanks everyone. As Mick has indicated, this really isn't my comfort zone. It's back to normal as from tomorrow.

A cracking grab shot, Moira
Don't think you could improve on this, it's excellently composed and the subjects nicely framed - well done! ![]()

A bit of a quandrary here, I like the image enough to vote but being male and awkward I don't wish to self-fulfill your statistical analysis!
Aha... solution,

Moira, this reads so well -- such a universal shot. The mono adds to the timelessness of this image. I think the motion blur is a plus in this situation. At first I thought the blur was due to a shallower DOF. No matter, it serves to move our eyes out of the blurry part and up to the sharper image of the infant's face.
Very nicely done.

What a little sweetie Moira, and a lovely moment captured. I'm sure you made sure that they have many pictures to treasure, SMASHING!

A fantastic shot. Nice in mono. The expression is quite good so is the tonal gradation. Deep
A charming image, you've captured this magic moment perfectly
