More from last weekend's Kite Festival. The first four were all taken within less than one minute, I was quite pleased with them. And they were taken deliberately with square crops in mind.
I'll be curious to see how this fares, because I suspect that the thumbnail won't convey very much.
I've never done anything like this before, it was an interesting exercise. Any tips will be appreciated, in case I get another opportunity.
The last image took quite a few attempts. I suspect that it may get its own Silly Sunday airing some time...
Thanks for looking,
Moira

Thanks early birds. After a bit of dithering, I've added the Specialist / abstract tag, because I do see these as abstracts - the shapes created by the streamers.
The skill in creating these shapes is amazing, and the display took place in wind that was apparently a lot stronger than would be acceptable for competitions.

Brilliant set of image Moira, very well done,
Hugh
The Kite
How bright on the blue
Is a kite when it's new!
With a dive and a dip
It snaps its tail
Then soars like a ship
With only a sail
As over tides
Of wind it rides,
Climbs to the crest
Of a gust and pulls,
Then seems to rest
As wind falls.
When string goes slack
You wind it back
And run until
A new breeze blows
And its wings fill
And up it goes!
How bright on the blue
Is a kite when it's new!
But a raggeder thing
You never will see
When it flaps on a string
In the top of a tree.
Regards Nathan
Marvellous set Moira, I like the discord of V3 abut they are all very good indeed, even the chorus line in V5 for a bit of humour. Suspended animation may be the case.
I also love Nathan's poem, sounds a bit like John Betjeman.
Dougie
bright and breezy and wonderful fun. I once saw a display like this at Achmelvich in Assynt.
Ohh, Mikbee's gonna love V5 !
A great set Moira, so very well taken.
I think V3 is my favourite here, it seems the most vibrant and exciting of the set, and yes, Nathan's poetry complements beautifully.
Thanks again folks. Bill favours V3 but I reckoned the lower kite wasn't quite sharp enough. I like the idea of discord though...
I'm not doing a lot here at the moment, my internet connection keeps disappearing. It's very frustrating when you've typed a comment and it disappears into the ether.

Good set of images. Versions 1-4 - what happens if you 'cut along the dotted lines' ![]()

Super set of kite shots Moira.
I just love the energy they portray.

I think you might have guessed Moira, that V5 would be my favourite.
Taking the expression,''wind in my sails'' to new heights here !!
I think I will take this kite flying up as a new hobby.
It will be the only chance I get pulling at a ladies G-strings nowadays !!
Mick.

I think we were all waiting for you to find V5, Mick.
Thanks again everyone.

Very unusual...but a brilliant set, Moira, love 'em!
V5's definitely a Silly Sunday shot!

I'd love to see them try and do a 'bow'
v1 definitely the best shape in the frame. I might have said v5 for the shape, but the cellulite is a bit prominent ![]()

In V1, it looks as if they are trying to sky-write a heart, only the bottom portion to go. Well done, Moira, a different, out of your comfort zone series that certainly is worth repeating at another opportunity.
V5 has to be for Silly Sunday.

Nice ones like them all, used to fly Kites as a kid in Kensington gardens London, there was an old Chinese man that taught us kids how to make and fly them, just after thewar I used to fly 40 Kites all on one line, great fun , so this brings back nice memories, love it well done, regards Leon.![]()

V5 made me smile but love the preceding 4 - most impressive and great work Moira, your right the thumb did not convey much at all but I am so glad I didn't miss today's upload, a shot I would have liked to have a go at myself but I doubt it would have turned out as good as any of yours![]()
Nice pair of boobs in V2, Moira, and a snazzy pair of spectacles in V4.
"I'll be curious to see how this fares" Well it gave me a laugh.
You are flying high with this set Moira, no prizes for guessing which one the Lifesnapper and Mikbee will prefer!![]()
