An interesting expression. Suggests he is not that happy but it doesn't look as though the envelope has been opened. I like the two (teachers?) at the back in similar poses, right arm across chest, left hand at chin. The mono does give a more sombre mood.

Thanks guys. By complete coincidence, Bill has also uploaded a student's teeshirt, from the same morning. No planning involved, honestly!

Yes, mono works better for me Moira.
I do like the “too early in the morning” look about the student.
David
How can we expect school children to have a dress code when we see those two officials in the background. The children are fine as its not a school day but I do think the adults should try. No wonder a lot of children have no respect for their teachers.
By the way - no, he hadn't opened the envelope. Half an hour later it was till unopened, stuffed into his back pocket.
The two men in the background (one parent governor, one teacher) were distributing results. Danny, it was a hot day and the staff do voluntarily give up a large chunk of their holiday every summer to help with the exam results and the fall-out afterwards...

A very fine mono Moira, capturing a "trying to be nonchalant" expression!

I was browsing my faves on EPZ on my iPhone whilst up town having some lunch, and thought this was Harry Potter! A closer inspection revealed it wasn't...![]()
A great photo journalistic shot, Moira, and works well in mono, too ![]()

I must be a stuffy old woman I am sorry to say the T shirt does not mean anything to me as I don't have any young grandchildren now but it obviously does convey something to other members. I do however like the expression captured and feel maybe the young man felt under pressure if he didn't want to open the envelope until he was able to do so quietly and unobserved, the youngsters are under a lot of pressure in this day and age. No offence meant to anybody.
Mono gives the right result Moira, hope He had the right one's too.

Deserves 30 Moira - great sensitive image...
Mike
He appears rather pensive as though he dare not open the envelope to read its contents, a most intriguing candid Moira, you've captured the moment perfectly
