The ribbed arches under Framwellgate Bridge, Durham, with light reflected up from the ripples on the water creating strong shadows.
I have another square image to come, cropped from the same original frame but very different. That can wait for next Saturday.
Thanks for looking,
Moira

That has made a beautiful abstract Moira.
I always like to watch the patterns made by the sun on water, it's very relaxing.
You have caught it perfectly, enabling the viewer to see the movement of the light and hear the gentle sound of the water as it laps the banks of the river, wonderful.

Is it up or is it down? Marvellous image Moira nd captures the feeling of the reflected ripples beautifully. This would have made a tremendous time lapse sequence, but you really need a tripod for that. Tongue

An excellent abstract image, Moira, with nice light and shadows. I see one or two others have viewed this the same as me - it's a bit of an optical illusion, in that you seem to be looking up at the brickwork, but then looking at it again, you could be looking down on it Wink

WOW!! I've just logged in, I've been busy. Big community events last night and this afternoon, I've been processing pictures and burning discs until there was steam coming out of the computer. You'll see pictures of one event tomorrow.
I'm amazed at how well this has been received. Many thanks to Sarah and John for their UAs, that's a wonderful surprise.
I'll try to get some time on the site now before real life intrudes again.
