thank you all. darkphotographer- try using layer masks and displacement maps. i think there are some tutorials here on the subjects.

Like it Michael - the little touches on the eyebrows and lips are cool and you done a great job layering the texture to match the form.

It's all very well layering textures but it's the way you shape them around the face that sets your images apart.
